Debatable that 'road' is passable by anything except maybe a goat! If it is a 'road' someone should be maintaining it in a somewhat better state vis á vis passability! Perhaps it could be better described as a footpath, in which case it needs to be so posted.
Looking at the OS map it is a Public Right of Way as a footpath.
Presumably he blindly followed his Satnav from the end of Stones Lane either north of the transmitter or south.
The route north looks more likely and is probably a reasonable track to the buildings a few hundred meters to the north of the hairpin.
The south route may not join up to the footpath with the hairpin, the OS map isn't clear enough, this way is designated "other routes with public access".

I suspect that it is a footpath. It was the GPS that said it was a road. My GPS insists that one of the A roads around here is a minor road - it's wrong, though.
