Byways around Stonehenge ..

Good news, I believe ..

I've been involved in a small way in trying to keep a raft of byways around Stonehenge open, despite TRO's being sought by Wiltshire Council and just received a letter with the final decision, I'll quote a couple of relevant sentences ...

"Re road traffoc regulation act 1984 - Public enquiry 20 Sept - 4 Oct

"The cabinet member for Highways and Transport has now considered a report prepared following the receipt of the planning inspectors report. He has accepted the inspectors recommendation and has decided that the traffic restriction should be made to apply only to the A344 and not to the Byways."

and just in case you didn't see it ..

Good news for those of us who drive Byways ... let's hope for similar mini-victories in future .. ;)

But that's a 'knock you down with a feather' result. Will we be hearing of corrupt payments etc. in years to come?

So is the effect to close a portion of the A344?
