Defender rear door lock bust

Jan 12, 2004 1 Replies

Any kind person know what is wrong with the rear door when the lock works but the little tag on the inside seems to have lost it's oomph and will not stay up and locked when turned up with the key from the outside. Son 2 has to get in and jam a bit of paper or card in the slot below it to make it stay up and hence locked. It happened before but was under warranty. Not now though.

I have a rear door lock which I must strip to find out what has broken to cause this. Hopefully, then I'll have a good spare for when it happens the next(third) time.

A rubber band or bit of elastic around the inside locking latch and stretched up to the nearest screw in the door glass frame is usually a good temporary fix.

But be warned, the door self locks upon closing!
