NU is rubbish. try some of the other online companies. i use "direct line" less than half the price.
Give Tesco a look. Before I bought my Disco commercial, and before I wrote my Focus off, they quoted me £550 fully comp, when everywhere else wanted at least £1k. And that was for a 21 year old with just 2 years NCB.
Norwich union? I said NFU
Privilege are at £440, more like it.
Try Adrian Flux. I know they just got a shoeing by Matt a couple of posts back, but they were a very good price for me, happy that my 4.0 p38a is actually a 4.6, no problems with lpg etc etc.

Sign up to quidco and have a look at their motor insurance cashbacks. I've just insured the wife's Astra for £190 (first insurance in her name, so no NCD) with Lloyds TSB, and I'll get £120 cashback. Usual quidco warning: if you've visited a site before you go in through quidco, clear your cookies first to ensure the site picks you up as a quidco visitor.
£120 is about the highest available, but there are enough companies offering respectable cashbacks that it's worth checking."rads" wrote in message
Was just commenting on them claiming to be specialists...in practically every field of motor insurance ;) And that I didn't get a great quote off 'em. And when they asked me if I had recieved any better quotes, they ran off what I can only assume is a scripted speech about "That must be a small, unknown insurance company, and you'll probably find they'll refuse to pay out, quoting unknown terms blah blah blah blah May I ask what they are called?". Threw her a bit when I said "Direct Line.". For you though they may be fine, I just had the disadvantage of my age working against me, as I was 19 at the time.
But back to recommendations, I know quite a few people who've had damn good quotes from Tesco, when everywhere else has been asking for silly money.

I had my 04 TD5 insured with Landrovers own insurance, fully comp, with business and off road cover for £560. I had 5 years no claims and two SP30 tickets, aged 45. Located inside the M25. When I was looking around no one else came near.

Maybe not then! Goes to show how different companies are better suited to different people
Ive got my 90 insured with Sureterm (the actual insurer is Highway). They seem really knowledgeable about all things landrover, and are happy with mods etc. Its got an agreed value on it, (for more than its actually worth), and an equivalent courtesy car if i need it.
Im 24, with no NCB, a company car, and its only a couple hundred quid.
Its some policy that doesnt need any NCB, but the policy does not acrue any NCB for the term of it...
Doesnt bother me!
I'm with Liverpool Victoria, only about £250. Nice people and some extras thrown in too. TonyB

OP said NFU...
Disco II TD5 7 seat ES. =A3429 with Norwich Union Direct. Age 46, one other named driver, full NCB (protected), legal wotsit, courtsey car etc= in a very remote and rural area (for England). S,D & P plus Business (not communting, I don't do that). My business is vaguely "entertainment", insurance companies really don't like that sector so I =
have to be carefull what I call myself.
A year or so back after seeing peoples coments about NFU in here I enquired, couple of hundred quid more than NUD...
Another one worth looking at if you are renewing is getting a new customer online quote from the same company that you are currently with.= That saved quite a bit on the other halfs Fiesta a couple of years ago.
Nige uttered summat worrerz funny about:
AA were cheapest for us, I think Churchills policy.
Everything else is Sureterm.
If you need to quote a club which often attracts a discount then join Mud Club, it's free and recognised by most of the specialists who ask.

Indeed. Why the f*ck are the UK insurance companies giving you all a right royal shafting? I'd say the risk here is significantly higher than in the UK and I can insure a Disco 2 for around the £350 mark (less
60% to me as an "employee" of an insurance broker). On or around Wed, 21 Feb 2007 14:19:01 GMT, " banjo" enlightened us thusly:
He didn't say NU. NFU in my experience are fairly competitive.

I'm increasingly convinced that they employ a random number generator to decide premiums.
