Lancaster insurance madness!

Just talking to either different computers or talking via two interfaces into the same system but with different information being fed in. That's what happens when decisions are made by computer, they do what they're told, alas they're usually instructed by committee and programmed by disinterested people with their minds elsewhere.

Perhaps I've spent too much time in the I.T. industry...

Phone them up and get to talk to the same system through a third interface, might as well go the whole hog.

The policy on my 38A is due for renewal and is currently with Lancaster for £313 per year.

They sent me an email to renew and following the procedure on line they quoted £1113.23!!!!!

If I go through confused.com Lancaster come out cheapest with a quote of £278.70.

WTFIGO? I have double checked and all the details are exactly the same.

Another point. Many Lancaster policies do not give no-claims bonuses. I only found that out today when I went through the fine print on the policy. I assumed I had another year but no!

blimey, only £1113 for a P38 - bargain! they quoted me over 2K for the disco - and that was with 5 yrs no claims and no points

Have seen quite a few threads about them losing the plot this year.

Pete Best and NFU seem to be mopping up a treat - I got the disco, the series 3 and the horse trailer covered with NFU for £650 fully comp for all three

Also give Adrian Flux a call. Never had to claim, but very competitive, and did not charge any extra for the LPG conversion. Seem "Land Rover Friendly" if such a thing exists anymore.

I can recommend them too. LR-based class 5 trialler, daylight Mot, auto V8, limited miles, fully comp - £120*. They need photos for an agreed value policy, otherwise they take your word for it. A lot of self-build motorcaravanners use them, as they don't require certificates for gas installations etc. Very easy to deal with IME.

I'm new here, but discovered the same thing when I had a Saab=20 convertible with them. It had been placed on an everyday classic policy (no mileage limits), so=20 didn't earn no claims. No wonder it was so cheap compared to the other=20 companies. Unfortunatley, I had to cancel as I changed cars and they couldn't swap=20 it as they couldn't cover the new one. So I lost 6 months premium except=20 =A335 that wasn't swallowed by admin charges, cancellation fees etc.
