Discovery Auto gearbox

Apr 12, 2004 6 Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2000 Discovery TD5 Auto and when I get between 2250 and 2500rpm I get a dull vibration and a rumble noise. Both below and above these revs it is great - really smooth.

I have been to the main dealer from whom I bought the car and he says nothing wrong however I have about 5 months left on the warranty and wish to be sure that is so before it runs out.

Any ideas will be apreciated.

Stevie,

Driving and the speeds vary according to what gear I am in.

There was a concern regarding the propshafts and drive flanges (vibration about 60mph) you had to check the runnout of the propshaft drive flanges, handbrake drum + rotate the prop position. Process of elimination I'm afraid, but the dealers should know about it . Could try selecting difflock & remove the front prop to see if it makes a difference... Hope this helps. stevie...

Stevie,

Many thanks for advice,

Ernie
