Rather hard to do these days (says me wot has a clean license!).

Speed limits are, shall we say, somewhat crude. All "not breaking the law" really gives you is a moral glow of self-righteousness, they're not a stark line dividing safe from non-safe.

Youve never ever missed a speed camera? I dont mind them where they arnt hidden to catch you out on limit changes like most of em round here!

I know most around here, many have now been "necklaced"( leafy Kent). Those I dont mind, I object to the Smart cars they started usinmg with a camera in the rear window. They are usually set up in an area of fields with wide road and little traffic, ie maximum revenue.

My understanding is that the GPS systems are, and will continue to be, fully legal. After all, they are warning you about potential accident zones and allowing you to adjust your speed accordingly, and what could be wrong with that? Detector types will soon be illegal, and may well be already. How likely you are to get caught is another matter. FWIW, I have a Tomtom with the PocketGPS camera database installed, and it is brilliant (when the f*cking thing works, see other thread). I wouldn't go on a long journey without it now. Thing is, it really works in the way that The Man wants it to:

I thoroughly support cameras to enforce specific limits, like near to roadworks, schools, traffic lights etc. The ones I object to are (as others have said) those where there is no specific danger but a great revenue opportunity.

Hehe.. First thing I'd do is throw all car parking attendants into prison, I parked the pinz up this morning in a car park, walked 40 metres to the ticket machine, bought a ticket, walked back and found some daft cow with a peaked cap just beginning to write out a fine to stick on it! I dished out the evil eye and a few comments re being eager and she looked a bit sheepish and wandered off. Not seen her there before so she's not a regular. Hopefully she'll learn. If I get a fine through the post there'll be hell to pay!

Dude - check the small print on thre pay and display signs, I know Morph was over weight for most council carparks.

S'alright, you just tell them you had a load of helium aboard and thus were under the weight limit.

Sod that, she was just trying it on. Never had any trouble parking there in the year I've had the thing, once a week at least.

The height restriction bar usually prevents most 101 owners from using car parks :(

I'm soon going to attempt to get my 101 over the grass verge and over one of the big rocks they have as a barrier at the local leasure centre. I reckon there is one smaller one i could crawl over providied nobody was parked in the space on the other side of it..

Thats what I do in the Series at the local shopping centre. They are short of parking but near the entrance there's a raised garden full of weeds that can be parked in if you're moderately keen and fairly careful. So far nobody has said a word although I've had a lot of amused looks from other shoppers.

Hmm, I've just remembered that I've not seen a height restriction barrier on a car park in my local stamping grounds, not even in the local towns I haunt. I wonder why not, they were rife in Reading when I lived there, couldn't get the Defender into many car parks there.

Just wrap a tree strop around it and give it a tug ;-)

Obviously not as many jippos round your way as there are round here!. Every single car park seems to have height restrictions except the supermarkets..

They mostly arnt small rocks!.. and they are interspersded with trees.. except one tree obviously died and the rock next to it is smaller.. unfortunately it is quite near the entrance so usually has cars parked infront of it and none of my mates are keep enough to arrive there before me and reserve the space!
