Hi All,
May I say an extra special thanks to Derry and Beamends for correctly advising me look in the selector assembly before stripping the LT77 in the Range Rover.
As soon as I took the centre console apart you could see that the flat plate of metal between the two springs had broken and wedged themselves inbetween the two retaining bolts. Off with the top of the box, back on with one of the scrapper disco and all up and running again within 2 hours. Wonderful.
I've yet to drive it on the road but running through the gears with the transfer box in neutral the shift is actually better that it has ever been. Very precise.
So thanks to all involved, especially the two mentioned above. I can go to work tomorrow with faith in Land Rover engineers and human kind restored!
Thanks again
Dave
