Very neo-Malthusian. Its growth figures assume that everyone will one day be able to drive two cars simultaneously. Like in the UK, Greenpeace et al proclaim that there is no limit to the number of cars on our roads
- of course there is, drivers. Discount those under 17 for a start (apart from chavs) , discount those who can't drive, and all those Green peace members who won't drive, and the maxiumum HAS to be less than the UK population.

Standard rail fare is a reality for many people. When I go to London (as infrequently as possible, but several times per year) it's usually for a meeting of half a dozen people, all with fluid diaries. I'm lucky if I can buy the tickets 24 hours in advance, let alone a week. And I travel first class usually so I can work, because otherwise it's
5 hours lost productivity.I'd have to check, but I think Wakefield - Kings Cross last time was about £200. I fly to Ireland and mainland Europe for less (and often faster).
Trains are great, because I can work and justify having the mobile off. But for most journeys I do they are vastly impractical and too slow - it takes almost about 40 minutes for me to drive to a mainline station, against 3 minutes to drive to an M1 junction.
