Heathrow zapped my Rangie

Starting to go well OT here, but why don't you try going to a game again - they're great fun and not too expensive - around £15 - we generally drum up a few friends and go as a group - we even go with with opposition supporters (due to the wife's heritage we are Cherry & Whites supporters!)

Does any of this apply to Defenders, or is this a RR thing only? My '97 110 has an alarm/immobiliser fitted and I would expect it to be the same or similar to the rangie one.

Should I be avoiding the above things too? Also how close do you have to be to the Oregon weather transmitters for it to have an effect? I have an Oregon temperature gauge with an outdoor sensor at the back of the house but I park at the front.

Some of these problems, such as airport radars, happen because the radar signal has enough power to swamp the receiver. Interference from essentially similar gadgets is limited by the allowed transmitter power, and distance can make a big difference.

It's worth knowing where the actual receiver is, so you can get close with the key fob. Getting close will make the biggest difference. It's very unlikely that enough signal will get from one side of a house to another to be a problem.

What, that it's a handy excuse if the missus finds a condom in the car??? ;-)

Yeah, we both spend far too much time in here. But I'm at my desk and typing, so my boss thinks I'm slaving away for him :-)

I think the issue is with P38A range rovers specfically since the tranmission causes a large (0.6 to 1A) current drain for the next 2 minutes.

Any vehicle with a radio remote running on 433Mhz and requiring the remote to disable the immobiliser is potentially vulnerable.

In terms of the Oregon transmitter, I can't comment. I have the temp. sensor within 10 feet of the receiver in the car, and the receiver is about the same distance so they'd be close even if I moved the tranmitter.

I find jabbing the blip into my chin bone is most effective. It's also useful if your batteries are a little low (or the ones in the blip, at least).
