A defender should go in a normal garage with 7ft square up and over door...

Percy is now 78 1/2 inches tall .. Hes a SWB SIIa with hard top and also a safari roof ontop ..the 78 1/2 inches is to the top of the bugdges over the roof vents.

You would have to take off the canvas and remove the poles, which i think if i remember correct are screwed together at some point (maybe wrong its been a while since i had mine) I think you would also need to remove the door tops and also lower the windscreen forward(dont know if you can still do that on a 90) A roller garage door may get you an extra couple of inches compared to the up and over canopy type. A lot of work if its only going away for the night.

To add to the details:- The upandover door is only 6ft (1.85m) to the underside when opened. Even if I was to take the door off entirely the opening is just 6ft 6ins. There's no option of raising the roof. The only way is to drop the car!

Perhaps I'd not plan to do this every night, but it would need to be done at least once a week.

As I understand it, the process will be to remove the canvas, the rails, wind the windows, drop the screen forward.

But is there a rollover bar to remove?

or let the tyres down !

I have a very similar problem, but it's a bit worse with a CSW 110 and full length rack.

At least they've literally raised the bar at the local 'civic amenity sites' so I can now drive straight in (need a permit though). Last time I went down, with a copy of my application form (as I still haven't had the paperwork back from the council), and got some very admiring comments from the folks down there. I think they're amused by the people carriers somewhat.

I still can't get her undercover though. Changing the fuel tank recently was a complete pig - lying in a puddle of driven rain and Diesel. Like you, I'd need to lose around 8", which ain't gonna happen just by letting air out of the tyres.

But my birthday's this month, and I really do need a compressor, which'd be perfect for an impact wrench... Synchronised trolley jacks anyone?

The door on my garage is about 6ft 4. To get my 2A in i have to take the roof off. On my 2A with parabolics on, it'll just fit in with the front bar of the sticks on (the bar that goes on the top of the windscreen). I leave the rest of the sticks in one piece, and have to undo them where they fit to the windscreen top piece.

Takes about 15-20 mins to get the roof off.

Thats to un hook/un tie the rag and undo the 4 bolts there. If you cable tie it it's slightly quicker :). If you fixed your sticks on properly you'd also have some more fixings, but they can also be replaced my cable ties if you like. Bungee rope with metal hooks on the ends is also quicker than rope with knots.

Its just about possible to lift the sticks and rag off by yourself. Not easy though, and dont try it if you value your paintwork.

After doing it a couple of times, I gave up, and now work on it outside!. If i have to do a big job, i'll take it off.

Could you make a couple of grooves to drive in to get under the door ??? A friend of mind had to cut the bottom of the door frames off his garage to get a westfield in with wide rear tyres, so could you make a couple of grooves wid enough for the tyres, to drive in to get under the door ??? Taking the roof off is a real pain if you have to do it regularly, particularly if it's in the garage with no roof and you need the car when it's raining!
