How easy is it to upgrade to airbag

As an ex-fireman who has attended more than a few MVA's I'm a firm believer that the evils of airbags are far outweighed by their benefits. I've had an airbag deploy in my face 3 times (result of a deliberate experiment when bored one day) and the negative effects are minimal - airbags don't generally leave lacerations or burns, that's the urban myth in action reporting those sort of results.

My best mate's wife is 4'10 and sits practically touching the wheel. I've seen the remains of her car after a head on with a 4x4 - she survived with a couple of cracked vertebrae in her neck (and a shattered femur and ankle). Without an airbag she'd have died of a shattered skull after head-butting the wheel, dashboard or windscreen - the car folded enough that touching any or all of those was inevitable.

I've put my money where my mouth is too - other than my Series vehicles the entire family fleet is fitted with airbags.

At the time I chased it with the dealer it was in warranty. Given the general poor build quality (Seat Alhambra - same factory IIRC as Galaxies and Sharans), I no longer care. Nice design but I won't be buying another one.

How big a hammer?

not if it's already gone off, which was the point. Should have been more specific, I meant trigger it deliberately and then don't replace it...
