I've seen the light - Discovery no more!!!

Hi Everyone,

I've recently got rid of my Discovery and 'discovered' a Suzuki jimny instead - and let me tell you this thing ROCKS! with Far superior off-road performance and rugged looks to match, I find myself leaving Discovery/Range Rover owners behind in a cloud of their own smelly diesel fumes! How I laugh at the unfortunate LR owners as I see them sink without trace in the mud behind me while I accelerate up very steep muddy hills, thanks to my rorty 1.3 litre engine!

See the light LR owners - Get a Jimny! the REAL off-roader!

I thought you were a troll, then I figured that Hairdressers probably wouldn't bother trolling so you must be just a care in the community candidate, if so please take your medication before the men in the Green Discovery come to pay a visit. I'm glad you like your Jimny, like what ever blows your frock up.

I once nearly ripped the back end off a Suzuki just like yours with my

101, when I had to pull the Suzi out of some mud.

Now, fairs fair, we bogged down Bob in wheel deep mud, but it would have submerged your Tonka Toy.

Bob now carries 1/4 ton of steel in the back end off road and boy does it help.

We used a Suzuki ... er ... SJ something and you're right, it rocks.

Trouble is, it won't pull the caravan, or the kit we need, or the people we take etc etc .. ;)

I seem to recall from way back an embarrassed article in LRO about a FIAT Panda 4X4 waltzing past far superior, allegedly, off roaders. Apparently it was all to do with it's light ground pressure.

Which is off-course a great advantage. This is also true for the Suzuki's. Kind regards, Erik-Jan.

Has my calendar and body clock stopped working? Is it really the 1st of April already??? Badger.

Quite.

What the troll doesn't seem to appreciate is that Landrover fans are fans despite their faults, and are apparently much less bigoted than other marque fans.

Pandas, Suzukis and many others have all been discussed positively in AFL many times. ;)

If you like the Suzuki Jimny you might also check Mahindra, Tata, Hindustani and Lada Niva. Cutting edge cars for physical and mental pygmies. Real men drive real cars. :)

I was in Weston Coyney on an off road day some time back in '95 and saw a Panda 4x4 totally take the piss out of a couple of bobtailed Range Rovers. Probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The Bobtails were attempting to get to the top of a particularly cliff like section. Tried everything they did from full on attack to trying a "wall of death" type attack. The Panda just came screaming across the quarry and rocketed straight to the top.

Lot of bearded men looking at a scruffy old 4x4 Panda with a look of awe that day.

Al these stories about tiny 4x4's scooting over terrain that defied a land Rover are non seciturs. A good trail bike would do it even a better. It's comparing apples with oranges. How about setting up a comparison where a Suzuki, Panda and Land rover have to carry a load or pull a trailer across country? No doubt the results would reveal the true strengths and weaknesses.

My Beamish and Fantic trials bikes go anywhere my Landrovers ever could, and far more besides, Personally I go to about 10' drop-offs and up about 3' vertical, but that's more my lack of skill and excess body weight than the bikes / tyres abilities .

Deep water and very deep mud is a little more awkward though .. ;)

Yes. Wading about waist deep in what is loosly called mud but is actually a good percent farm slurry feeling for a Yamaha with your feet does take the edge off your weekend.

I have a pair of pruners that no longer work. They're non-secateurs.

Sorry, I'll go now.
