Is it the end?

I was hoping that I would have at least a couple of months left before parting with my hopeless landie as the chassis and door pillars are unfortunately too far gone for economic repair, but it seems my landie has a total death wish now.

I was not far from home when the charging light came on. I assumed it was just the fan belt so just turned round and drove home hoping it would not overheat on the way. Well when I got home it wasn't the fan belt, the pulley wasn't moving at all and it was weeping oil

Not had time to look but I assume the bolt has come loose, or could this be the result of something worse?

Incidentally since I am getting rid of it anyway if anyone wants it, they are welcome to it.

... and where are you?

We'd like summat nackered for the kids to learn on ... but we'd need to be able to at least drive it home, if not totally legally, though sis might lend me her horse box if necessary ... ;)

Rusted through at the back near the spring mountings on both sides, door pillars rusted on both sides and door sills with not a lot holding the seat belt mountings, underframe badly rotted, bulkhead likewise to the point where it may not hold up the steering box and other stuff any more. A lot of work to get anything decent out of it, so as far as I am concerned it's the end of the line.

Coventry, not far from the M6.

Whether it is drivable depends on what has happened to the pulley, and whatever caused it to do that, I have not had a chance to look yet. I managed to drive it home about 10 miles without the fan and the alternator, so no idea what's left in the battery.
