Thanks for that, any clues where I can get some that are 93mm ?

I'm guessing here, but are you trying to mount JATE rings on a car with a tow hitch mounted? If so it's a *lot* easier to get a ball/jaw combo hitch.

some places (can't remember where) sell wide-mouthed JATE rings, but they've just had 4mm ground out of each side of the jaws - they're almost definitely not as strong as standard ones.

You would be guessing wrong ;-)

Just had a google and found the part number I want ZXC9435, this leads me to the good people at Dingocroft and their 96mm wide rings, I shall dispatch my man forthwith to procure me a pair !

You'll be thinking of these ones:

A cheaper alternative even to the ball/jaw combo hitch if you have the space is to mount a jaw/ball as high up the drop plate as possible (just make sure that a dropped/swinging tailgate has enough clearance). In most cases that will give you more than adequate clearance to use the lower ball. (Making several assumptions there, eh!)

My assumptions were also wrong! Can't win 'em all.
