Some details of the upcoming V6 Diesel for the Discovery and Defender replacement (T5 chassis):

2.7l 60 degree V6 built at Dagenham, several outputs up to 202bhp and 298lbs of torque. 1650 bar common rail - to avoid rattle, fuel can be delivered to cylinder 5 times per cycle, block made from lightweight CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron), designed to be mounted trans or longitudinally. V8 version nearing completion for RR and top Discoverys.

Now, who's going to be first to fit one to a Series 1? :)

H'mmm, It'll never ever ever fit.

;-)

.......bit small in'it for a conversion?

What about a longitudinally mounted front one and a transverse one in the back - 5.4 and 12 cylinders?

And a plastic inlet manifold I believe.
