Oil on the air filter - a dribble - HELP

Jul 19, 2005 3 Replies

Hi all,

Decided to give the 110 a service today and do air, oil, fuel and change the anti freeze. Anyway when I took the air filter off there was a dribble of oil at the top from the breather pipe from the top of the engine. Is this anything to worry about?

Not at all Andy they all do it.

As long as it is not excessive you will be OK.

Not necesserily - 200Tdi's do chuck a certain amount of oil into the air filter. But, it could be the first sign of the head gasket failing. I'd get someone who knows 200Tdi's to have a look - it's not really practical to make a judgement without seeing it.
