OT: Cadac BBQ

look after the non stick surface no metal tools, had ours for a couple of years and there is almost no end to what you can cook on them.

Crikey, they aint cheap, whats so good about 'em mate? We need a gas BBQ, the coal fired method is getting a tad unpleasant.

The ones we've used with Lava rocks are s**te. Last one nearly took out my eyebrows for no apparent reason. You can replace the rocks but I've had two BBQ's now of the type that look like a tool box once stowed away. They aren't al that big either for cooking on.

Last summer I aborted it for the good old charcoal which I prefer to use but it is messey and smokey too. Site this year has decided it for us....that and leaveing the charcoal one out overnight resulting in instant application of rust :-(

Or metal scraping to clean it when it gets bits of carbonised food stuck to it. Yes I know it says non-stick but... I'd also be concerned about it getting too hot, teflon degrades into nasty compounds when it gets too hot.

"Too hot" might be not much above 200C, I'd expect a BBQ cooking surface to get that hot or hotter. 190C is the sort of temperature used in deep fat frying. Even Dupont claim that PTFE ("Teflon") is only stable up to around 315C...

Ours is great. Very flexible and easy to transport. I don't think they have the sheer output to get >> 300 C.

Ours came from Stax in Swinton - cost about 40 quid. BBQ, Griddle, ring and oven, in one bag.

Wish we had the external gas bottle option too though.

I got the Cadac Safari a few years back because I wanted to use it when (camping) night fishing as well as caravanning. A very good bit of kit and very versatile.
