I nearly bought a pair of hiking/walking boots from a large shoe store until I read the label which read "NOT FOR OUTDOOR USE".

I obviously didn't but them.

Stephen.

D**m, No building wardrobes to pass an uneventful deco stop then.

Actually I did try an air operated drill with a propeller on it as an underwater tow along device. It was masses more powerful than the battery things we normally use although it ripped through the air supply. However it rusted solid after the second try despite goops of grease.

I didn't bother to take this short life up with the manufacturer even though they didn't have that get-out clause as I assumed

15 meters of sea water was a reasonable excuse.

Well, not quite the same thing but a long time ago I had a computer motherboard that the manual claimed was so easy to upgrade that I could do it without the help of god!

Read the mickeysnot T&C on windows or pretty much owt else the buggers sell- translation- don't use for anything dangerous precious or critical cos when it f*cks up you are on your own without a pot etc etc.

my cooker has a stupid heatshield thing on to stop the knobs melting when you use the grill. It says 'warning heatshield may get hot!" on it. I always thought that was a bit pointless. I should hope the oven and grille get hot!..

Some of the specialist airport vehicles arebased on American vehicles. The workshop manual says in big letters Do not change the engine oil with the engine running - turn off engine first. Surely if you are as dim as that, should you be servicing the vehicle? Robbie >

Watched it last night on BBCi player. It just gets better and better though they seem to be having more fun this time - Their faces in the speed boat looked like they were about to piss themselves laughing. I think inside every good bobby there is probably a Gene Hunt trying to get out. One of the lads at work had a book featuring DCI Gene Hunt. Must find out what it is. I'm not that long in the tooth to rememeber those days in the job but many of the lads and lasses I work with tell me it's not all that far removed from the reality of the era. How times have changed....... ;-)

I remember ( cue t'Hovis music ) my dad's pal who was an advanced police driving instructor pulling onto the forecourt with a new toy round about then . It was a debadged Sunbeam in GMP white yep a full house prepared Lotus Sunbeam twin cam it worried him that he wouild be letting young coppers loose with a barely guided missile but it still took two mugs of tea to loosen the smile he was wearing. Derek I got something for the shop expect a letter ! should raise a smile or three

I had a Lotus Sunbeam, til it caught fire on the Swindon bypass. Top Gear once described at a "hooligan's car, no justification for it being on a public road"! Top Gear was a bit different in those days! Torque was incredible - 2.2litre, twincam, 16v on a pair of 45mm twin choke DelOrtos (160bhp) through a 5 speed dog-leg ZF box - in a very light, rear wheel drive car. It's the only car I've owned that did fewer mpg than my V8 110!

Brings back many happy memories...... (well, apart from the fire)
