I've had silly problems with paddock, but mostly they were my fault. They did once have the sarong part on the parts list, but they remedied it and sent the replacement FOC and refunded the difference in price, so not bad.

Had a cheapo damper from them that didn't feel quite up to scratch, but it works well enough and it was only about 10 quid.

I suppose people are free to chrage what they want, market forces and all that stuff....

I couldn't agree more... cheapest is not always best, but then sometimes cheapest may mean the difference between having and not having. Our policy is to always try to offer two, or sometimes three "grades" of part so that customers have the choice. Clearly some shops just offer only the cheapest so as to get the customers "through the door".

I told Richard not to worry about being the cheapest.

Richard is always willing to offer good advice to the news group. But their is no point in trying to get into a price war for the sake of it. The likes of paddock and craddock are selling some of there stuff at stupid money. look at the price of their CVJ's !!! My local small motor factor is alot more expensive than the big frims, but he makes a good living because he holds good stock and his staff are knowledgeable and efficient. The customer sevice is ten times better then the other firms.

I never said that because a part is more expensive it is better!

But certain makes are better then others.

As stated on another thread I offer mainly genuine parts to my customers, most of which have vehicles that are under 10 years old. But I also offer a carefully selected range or cheaper parts for those who don't want to or can't pay for genuine.

After 14 years of business I seen some really bad pattern parts and no not to touch them. That Includes nasty heater plugs that don't last five minutes.
