I'll second that. I've been with news.individual.net for a few years

His ISP blocks news access so he can't access news.individual.net or any other news server between 18:00 and 23:00, that's why he's after a new ISP, not a new news server. He's already got a giganews account but can't access it between those times due to his ISP blocking news access.

Presumably blocking port 119 (NNTP). I think news.individual.net offer alternative port numbers. Yep they do:

Giganews offer access via port 80 and 23. Has the OP tried using those ports to access their Giganews account. An ISP that blocked port 80 wouldn't last very long...

I too, use BTinternet and have never used any other. Never had any problems with their own news server. I did use news.individual.net for a while before they started charging, then went back to BT's news server.

and it was my problem anyway. I use the actual IP in the settings, to save it doing lookups (dates from when my ISP had a dodgy nameserver) and, for as far as I know the first time ever, they've changed the IP address of the server. working again now.

BT's server is someone else. Might be Giganews, or might not.
