Depends on where it is broken - if broken at the outer end, dead easy - if broken at the inner end, more likely with a Rover diff, you will almost certainly have to remove the other half shaft and the diff - which is not har, but a bit messy and the diff is heavy if you don't have a flat concrete floor and a floor jack. See Graeme's post if you have a Salisbury diff with a removable cover. JD
