Recovery Techniques Book

Hi there, Wondered if anyone could give me any suggestions for a good book on vehicle recovery techniques. Have seen a few out there but wanted some further advice first...

Many thanks

Dog.

Some recoveries are impossible, like the situation I got myself into yesterday.

I could not get out of the hedge I was stuck in because a substantial bush had wedged itself underneath the front and was acting like a wheel chock. I could not drive over it because I would have caused even more damage and even if I had a high lift jack, I would not have been very safe trying to cut the wood from underneath. As it was I cut off a substantial bough but even when sawn off it would not move. The only solution was to lift the front end off the ground to give enough clearance while I reversed back. How many people take mobile cranes out with them. A winch would have been useless in the event, which would still have to.

I have 'off-roader driving' by Tom Sheppard which has a 20 page section on recovery.

I also have 'vehicle dependant expedition guide' also by tom sheppard which has a 13 page section on recovery.

'working in the wild, manual for africa' has a couple of small sections on recovery, not worth buying just for that though.

I used to have 'off road recovery tecniques' by Nick Cole which is a very good book, seems to be missing from my bookshelves, I'll be buying another one if I don't find it.

'The off-road and 4-wheel drive book' by Jack Jackson covers recovery briefly, mostly equipment for and sue of towing as recovery.

I'd advise 'off-road recovery tecniques' by Nick Cole (currently available through amazon.co.uk for £7.15) and as a second choice 'off-roader driving' by Tom Sheppard.
