I'm replacing the timing belt on my 2.5 diesel sherpa engined Landy. I can see how it is meant to be done, with a torque wrench. But I can't find any info on the correct tension. Can any one help.

I followed the instructions for the landrover 2.5 when i did mine. Still working now! :)
I reckon that they are similar enough that it'll do.
Thanks Tom I've got a manual which gives, 13 / 15 ft/lbs for the 200tdi engine 10 / 12 ft/lbs for the 300tdi engine But nothing about the 2.5 engine :-( John
I've got a landrover 90/110 workshop manual here.
For the LR 2.5 diesel it says that the tensioner should be set to
29-23.5 Nm/21 to 17 lb ft. Then do two complete engine revolutions, and then slacken and re-tension to the above torque. If you want me to scan the relevant pages in the workshop manual i can do so. It is easy because it is ring bound so they will go individually into the scanner.
Thanks Tom that is exactly the info I needed.
Yes please, If it's not too much trouble, I would like a copy of the relevant pages. This email address is spamtrapped, would you send it to, snipped-for-privacy@virgin.net That should get to me Ok Thanks John
I'll do it tonight.
