Is the steering really so stiff on these things, MOTd 4 mths ago and has only done 300 miles since. Just aquired it and it seems heavy with a capital H. My old srs 3 from 15 yrs ago does not give me memories of being so stiff.

What size tyres, with what pressure in them? Is the tracking correct? Have you tried jacking the front wheels off the ground to see if the stiffness is mechanical (eg siezed steering box). It could also be normal - a series on 600x16's or similar will be much easier to steer than a stage 1 on 235/85R16's.
As above, plus check the steering relay to see if it's got any oil in it. Most get ignored until they seize. Badger.
Stage1 v8 should have a steering damper on the track rod, check that to see if it's seized, but they do make the steering heavier anyway. Check the oil levels in the steering box and relay. Has it got oversize tyres on as well? It all adds to the steering weight. Certainly a Stage1 V8 will have heavier steering than a SWB or LWB
2.25, which might be what you remember. Possibly it's your memory playing tricks. If you're really stuck, then you might have to look at the swivel pre-load, it could be too high, but this means a fair bit of work to change/adjust/check, so suspect it as a last resort.
