Subzero Cant open the doors

I use the back door when that happens to mine, never failed to get in that way. (D90 CSW)

Only ever happened to me once..

They day i washed it.

Mind, the next day the doors were stuck in the frame but the locks worked!

The other week the P38 had a fit due to ice, all the doors wouldn't open & the CL wouldn't open them, i managed to get in after an hour or so of hot water on the damn thing, again after washing.

The doors regularly freeze to the seals in the SAAB during the chilly months. Having seen SWMBO pulling with all her, thankfully insuficient, strength on the door handle in these situcations I'm half expecting to see handle plus wife pirouette across the drive one day. I did consider suggesting that she dry the door seal off before leaving the car at night on frosty days but life (mine) is too short.

I knew there was a good reason I don't wash any of the cars here. The above is another reason to go with "it only gets dirty again" and in the winter that will be after one 5 mile trip to town and back...

If the doors are stuck to the seals try giving the door a series of whacks along the edges this often puts enough movement into the door/seal to berak the ice and allow the door to open without so much force on the handle.

The fix is supposed to be to spray some sillicone spray over the seal which stops it sticking - but ive not yet managed to buy any of it!

Not suprised if you are asking for sillicone, try silicone instead. B-)

Don't you have a can of "Pledge" or similar furniture "polish", that's basically a silicone. I might try it, clean the seal and mating part of door, spray onto a cloth a wipe on.

TBH though frozen doors don't happen that often but I wish the designers of the DII hadn't left that gap on the top of the doors that holds rain and/or snow which promptly gets deposited over the seats when you open the door. Grrrr....

I've been using that white spray grease from the pound shop works OK and stops the sunroof seal sticking to the glass as well as keeping it supple = no leaks. Derek

Got a can of silicone spray in my 'where the ******* is it cupboard'. I've never found a use for it, which probably explains why it's whereabouts are currently unknown!

Polish? me? its a bachelor pad! ;)

Have actually got some el cheapo furniture polish and it is indeed 'specially formulated with silicones and anti-static agents'. It will make my door seals lemony fresh too! :)

Quite a few cars do that dont they?
