WTD: Defender 90 - south west?

I am in the market for a Defender 90 (possibly 110 if you can convince me!), preferred age range 1997 - 1998, possibly later model if the price is right.

I am looking for a nice clean vehicle preferably located within striking distance of Plymouth, South Devon.

My reasons are that I am located in the north of Scotland where road salt is plentiful. I'd prefer to buy from somewhere where there less of it used! And I also have to go to Plymouth some time in the near future on family business. So, fly down and drive up sounds like sense.

Any offers? Post here or email me at derry at adviegundogs dot co dot uk.

And sea salt can be much worse. I owned a Rover P5 3litre coupe that had 1 previous owner who lived in Seaton, Devon. The car looked great, but within 2 years one side had almost entirely fallen off - doors etc. The car had presumably always been parked facing the same way, with that side windward or seaward.

Hi Group, This is a fact often overlooked by people that do not live near the sea. The sea air with the storms blowing it everywhere is available all year round, the salt on the roads is wintertime only. To be fair winter lasts alot longer in north Scotland. Having lived on the Isle of Wight I have seen the effect of sea air not only on vehicles but also on the paintwork of houses too. Also frequent users of the car ferries get even closer to the sea especially when its a rough crossing. Alan

Good point!

Now you remind me that was demonstrated to me by a Forestry Commion bod who prompted me to taste the needles of a young pine tree out in the Western Isles. You could taste the salt even though it was several miles from the sea! The boss also had one of those Amphi-cars (remember them?) which totally disintegrated at a tender age... :(

Maybe I better look further inland.

Personally I'd look inland. There may not be as much road salt, but there's a hell of a lot of sea salt!

Cheers
