2000 RX300 + AC related water leak

Hi all,

Was driving the other day in 100 plus temp. and after about 400 miles or so of driving noticed that the entire carpeting was soaking in water. Both on the front and the rear sides. I suspect the ac drain plug is clogged and the water is backing up. Just a week before this I noticed on a few times a swish sound when the AC was running and especially on taking left turns.

Any idea where the drain plug is situated and how to drain out the water? Also is there any way to check the AC filter to diagnose the problem

Thanks for all feedback

Classic signs of a clogged or mis-routed AC drain hose. The swish sound when turning is the clue to check before you get the carpets wet.

Look under the car, near the plane of the firewall for a black hose about the diameter of your baby finger. Stick a wire into the hose and see if you can clear the blockage or use compressed air. Most of the time, this is the cause. If you do not see the hose sticking out then it is mis-routed and you have to get at it from under the dashboard.

By the way, there will be either 2 or 4 drain hoses for the sunroof as well, they will be more towards the corners where the A and C or D pillars come down.

The AC filter should not have anything to do with the problem.
