1993 Corrado VR6 Problems

Bear with me here, this info I've gained over the phone...

A friend bought a VR6 Corrado a few weeks back and last night on his way back from work, he ran out of fuel. He kept trying to restart it (don't know why) and eventually got fuel in it although it then refused to start again! The AA man came out and put a bypass wire somewhere in the fusebox (apparantly the fuel pump relay had burnt out) and it started and ran, but he said "it performed like a 1.8".

Ever since then, even with the proper fuel relay from VW, it's not ran right. He's had the injectors cleaned, new fuel filter and fuel pump. It has also been decatted.

Any ideas? VW suggested the ECU but Bedrock (VW "specialists" in Glasgow) rubbished the idea.

Tia.

I got rid of my Corrado as it could not run on unleaded (1990) , I suspect the VR6 needs to use super unleaded and your mate is sticking regular....
