Astra and CDR 500 radio issues

Hi all, I`ve got 2 CDR 500 radio`s for my M reg Astra, and have a question. The one that was fitted by a friend for me works perfectly. The second one, which I was testing before selling to a friend, will only display "CODE, "PANEL" and the PIN number as you enter it, it won`t show any CD or radio channel information.

I have swapped bewteen these radios a few times and the old one works perfectly, the new one doesn`t. Any suggestiosn as to what it could be?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If it is the same as the cavalier radio I had: The clip out bit must be the right one for the radio, they are not interchangeable.

Yeah, I used the correct number panel for each radio. Both radios play CD`s and radio fine, but the new one doesn`t display trak or channel information, while the old one does. Seems strange that the new one can get the display to show "PANEL", "CODE" and the PIn as you enter it, but that nothing else shows. Was wondering if it was possible to turn the display off on this radio, but I can`t see anything in the manual about it.

It clearly thinks either the panel or the code is incorrect.

No, the "PANEL" message comes up when the panel is removed. When it says code, it is telling you that there is a code on it, but not activated. I have the code, and have entered it correctly to activate and deactivate the theft protection, so it isn`t that. i`ve been told in another group that it`s because it`s set to use the 10 digit display found on some models of car, while mine only has the 8 digit display. When it gets back from the garage i`m going to try following the insturtions i`ve been given to change the display type, see if that helps.
