Have a 1.7D Astra 2000 reg and there is a slight leak coming from the fuel pump.
Garage have quoted me £1600 to fix !!!
Could anyone possibly confirm that this correct?

Quite possible. If that price involves removing the pump (awkward as hell job on that engine), fitting an exchange pump, along with new timing belt kit, it's probably not that far off. Off course, if the leak is something simple, it may be just the case of renewing either a seal, or a solenoid, or taking the pump to a diesel specialist to get it sorted.
Although, I do suspect the job has been priced so you take it elsewhere, as I know I wouldn't want to do an injection pump on a 1.7.
