I think he did the right thing. My mates eldest lad passed out 12 months ago and recently finished his trade training as a Vehicle Mechanic..the same as I did but I did mine 15 years ago. His level of knowledge is feckin horrendous. God knows what they're teaching them now but it seems to be nothing more than oil, filters and spark plug changing.
My son missed out as they used him for sports. They flew him all over the place to box or run x-country and after 6 years he only had a part one City & Guilds in welding. Still he was grown up when he came out and I suppose they kept him out of jail;-) pete
