Bit OT

Hi Sorry this is a little off topic ,but thinking of getting a Kia Sorento 2.5 XS automatic diesel

2004 /54 December registation.

Trying to find out for sure what tax band it would come into...F or G band.

Have had a poke around some DVLC sites and am fairly sure it's band F,but does anyone know 100% sure please.

Dealer has no idea as yet.

F band is £205 G band is £300 @the mo,going upto £400 next year .

Many thanks. Baz

The manual is band F , the auto band g (according to vcacarfueldata.org.uk)

Or if you get the reg number and type it into dvla licence check. it will confirm it for you.

According to the above its a group G, it'll cost you lots, and is the reason I've changed to a group B car...

It's Band F. Band G only applies to >225g/km, _AND_ first registered after 23/3/06

.................................... Hi again. Many thanks to all of you for your replies, however still as clear as mud (trust Brown/NEW labour to make things so complicated no one can sort it out).

Your replies are much the same as I kept coming up with, so still not sure.

I do have the registration of the vehicle Mr cheerful but can't find where to enter reg,do you have a direct link ?.

From what I've gleened the Co 2 figures *should be one the registration document, V5 ?? but dealer says can't find it, have only spoke to him via mail at mo.

As you can see both these sites below gives different views. I did think that it would be band F as the G band appears to apply after 23/03/2006,from gov site this bit below.

G Over 225 ? for cars registered on or after 23/03/06 £300.00 £165.00

Hi Duncun. Thats the way I see it,but other sites tend to muddy the water :-( . Been trying to find a site that lists the CO2 emission (g/km) For different cars,no luck yet . Thanks . Baz

Given that that page on the DVLA website - and I'm not sure how much more authoritative a source you'd like - clearly says band G only applies to cars first registered after March 2006, I'm not quite sure how muddy the waters can get for you.

Try Parkers. Or look at the logbook. Or

The dealer doesn't want to tell you it will be the higher band as you will walk away and he has lost a sale.

Yes, but that one is the rule, all the others are just people pontificating.
