That doesn't automatically mean that Autoglass won't be able to source one. Assuming the person you spoke to was right, which is not guaranteed, it only means they won't be able to order one from the factory.

There are plenty of screen tinting companies out there who can match the colour. Whether your insurers will cover the extra cost or not will depend on the wording of your policy.

I thought a windscreen got its tint from the middle layer of plastic separating the laminates? - can an after market company adjust the tint of a windscreen?

By sticking additional film on, yes. Same as they do with (non-laminated) side windows.
