BMW E36 Window ( again sorry )

I have been trawling the archives and can't find the answer so I thought lets bite the bullet and ask again.

original problem - window goes up and down in small steps.

I have:- Removed the motor and glued back on the magnet that slides up and down the motor shaft ( glued so that it aligns with the sensors in the control unit ) lubricated the arms, as they were off and easy to get at, so the lift assembly is reasonably friction free.

Now when I operate the switch the window still goes up and down in stages although the polarity has been reversed i.e.. down on the switch moves the window up, and up with the switch moves the window down although now when it moves down it goes down 4" and back up 2" with each alternative button push.

I have tried resetting the switch by holding the button with the ignition on, and no I haven't swapped the polarity of the wires as they are all plug / sockets

Any Guru's out there have any ideas or should I swap to manual winders ???

TIA

Hmmm, can't imagine why the direction of travel would have reversed. Wierd. To do the re-initialisation you need to disconnect the battery for a while first (at least, that's how it seemed to me when I played with 'em.) Then it's full down and hold, full up and hold.

Have'nt tried re-initialising after disconnecting the battery - will give that a go tonight.

Have sort of resolved the polarity reversal problem, removed the switch top and turned it around, may have to swap it back after re-initialisation
