I don't understand it. I read the haynes manual, bought the new brake shoes and springs. I did exactly what the manual said. I fitted the new brake shoes as described and they work perfectly. This has never happened to me before. Every job I've ever done for the first time on the car has involved some unforeseen snag which usually involves buying some expensive tool or gouging the skin off the back of my hand. The car is a 1989 Austin Metro. Can anyone suggest what I may have done wrong? I'm assuming that I must have contracted asbestosis from the old shoes or that the springs will fly off tomorrow on the motorway or something...
Seasons greetings etc. David.
