Yes I have, but only the CVT version which has no noticeable gear changes but there is a distinct lag between applying power and the car reacting when pulling away at a junction. After a while you begin to compensate for this and it's then not so noticeable.

Indeed - but far more costly than a basic servo controlled synchromesh type with still probably better efficiency - and lower weight.
