Diagnostic code from VAG-COM

A friend owns a 51 plate 6n2 Polo (1.4 16v) and recently the EPC and emissions light has been illuminating frequently.

He purchased an interface and used VAG-COM to retreive the error code from the ECU and it returned the following error:

Manifold Inlet Pressure sensor - inplausable signal

Where is this sensor? What is likely to be wrong with it? Does anyone know any sites where such error codes are explained in detail?

Many thanks,

G.

Probably mounted to the bodywork and connected to the inlet manifold by a small bore pipe. The error indicates that the ECU is receiving a duff signal from this sensor which would indicate either a sensor fault or bad connections in the wiring between the two.

Same engine, and same problem as on Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v-ers. The map sensor is bolted to the back of the inlet manifold virtually upside down and the tiny air passage-way through to the sensor element fills up with oil deposits / sludge and general sh1te. Long term solution is change oil more frequently!

Remove sensor, blast some carb cleaner ***across*** the hole, shake it abit, tip it out, repeat until solvent runs clear.

DO NOT blast solvent into sensor- they are very delicate and built to measure vacuum not pressure and dont take a metal object or an airline to it.

Re-install making sure gasket is good.

More than likely, but that could be any one of a few sensors.

Nothing - it doesn't exist.
