Poor compression because the valve clearances have closed up would be my first guess.
By not starting do you mean it turns over on the starter but fails to start, or starter does not operate? Bump starts ok seems to suggest the latter, which in turn points to either the starter being on it's way out, or not receiving a feed from the switch.
