Something like Firestone gives you a cheaper tyre with a good level of quality for selling the car. No funny questions about quality of tyre etc from buyers.

Good tyres are definately worth the money IMO. Particularly in the wet. Uniroyal Rallye 680s should be available in your size, and IMO they're very good. Nice progressive breakaway in the wet and dry.

I would say they are worth the extra to go to a good main brand you don't have to go over the top but if I were buying the car and it had cheapo no brands on I would start to wonder where else you may have been skimping on.

It depends on the age too. Someone buying a 306 for under £1k, for example, would be quite happy just to have a good tread.
