Escort rear bumper

Oct 29, 2006 2 Replies

Evening all,

I did something a bit stupid the other day (reversed into a concrete flowerpot) and damaged the rear bumper on my 1997 Ford Escort. I have ordered a replacement painted to match the car etc.

I was hoping that replacement was a job I could do myself. I don't have a Haynes manual for the car and was wondering if some kind person on here could describe the procedure for removing the old bumper and putting the new one on. Will I need any particular tools for this job?

Many thanks

Evan

A 10 or a 13mm socket, a ratchet, a flat headed screw driver and about 10 minutes. Four nuts hold the bumper on, that's it.

Use the flat headed screwdriver to lever the registration plate light out and disconnect the wiring. Open the boot, locate and undo the four nuts that hold the bumper to the rear crash plate.

You might need an assistant to catch/hold the bumper while you remove/fit it.

Many thanks for your help - I shall have a go at it :-)

Evan
