Fiat Stilo

I have been at the dealership today to fine out that the part of the radiator that has broken will mean I will have to purchase a whole new radiator?

The part is the long black bit that screws into the radiator and then that is connected via a push fit connection to a hose to connect to the expansion bottle. Can the screw in piece to the radiator be bought anywhere else? no local factors have them.

Any yes the car is under warranty not that the 2nd/3rd covers much!! so I want to get a supply of this part in as it is very weak I think

Does anyone no how to reset the service light on the stilo? comes on after

12K - as I'm serving the car myself as I plan to keep it I would like to tell the computer the car is serviced!

Thanks in advance Martin

PS - I have tried gluing the 2 parts together with no luck due to the pressure

PPS - 4-5 threads made of crap plastic hold over 2" of plastic with the weight of the connection no wonder it broke!!

No as it is a pipe that is part of the radiator, it doesn't screw in as it is part of the plastic moulding. You're asking for a part that doesn't exist.

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You have the mechanical knowledge of a 2 year old.

Conor the part does screw in - as its in front of me in to fu*king pieces!!! believe me it screws in.

And yes the stilo which I have has 10789 miles to go before the computer needs reset to 12000 miles again for the next service so how have I the mechanical knowledge of a 2 yr old??

I stand corrected! First time I've heard of it.

See above but simply knowing when a car next needs a service does not a mechanic make.

I didn't say it did - all I want to know is can I reset the computer so its doesn't flash service for the rest of the cars life after I service the car - I service all cars I have owned this is the first one where resetting the computer is causing a problem - all I want to know is do I have to get the reset done by the monkeys at my local Fiat dealership?

Don't know about the Stilo - the page below gives detailed instructions for the Multipla - might be worth a try:

How did you learn about car servicing? Did start off knowing nothing and learn whilst you were doing it?

Everybody has to start somewhere...

I would be very suprised if the main dealer can't order that part for you.

It's got nothing to do with that, Conor. I have a Stilo Abarth and until the service indicator is reset it will always flash up "Service" on a multi-function display unit in the dashboard every time you start the car.

part of the

a whole new

£140 lol

Find a small local jobbing engineering shop, and ask if they'll make the part for you. Or send the broken bit's or a dwg to me, and I'll make it for you. Probably for less than a tenner inc P&P. Mike.

Mike thanks very much - a local guy that does rad. recoring has put a metel inlay into the main plastic fitting - it seems to be ok if it does break again I will take you up on your offer - the problem is without this fitting in the expantion bottle drains - and if you put a small bolt in the rad where the fitting fits the car eats the petrol, and heats up very quickly (to opp temp.)

Martin

PS - I think the service light needs to be reset by Fiat :-(

You could ring round , Lucas's Laser scanner should reset it (but it's rather more expensive than paying Fiat) & most independent Fiat specialists should have something equivalent.

Nope, I started off at a Land Rover dealership as an apprentice and pushed a broom.
