Focus DMF/Problems.

UK. 51 reg. Ford Focus TDDI, 70,000 clicking/tapping noise when accerelator is pressed, getting louder. Garage suspects Dual mass flywheel, and qoutes £500 to strip gear box and replace.

  1. Does the tDDI have a DMF-only reference on other sites says its on TDCI?
  2. Is this a reasonable quote from garage?
  3. Car had a replacement clutch + clutch server under warranty from similar noise-any comeback to Fords Warranty? Would this effect DMF?

DMF Flywheels should be replaced with the clutch, but often arent.

I dont think the DI has a DMF though?

Anyhow, does the noise change at all whether you are driving or just revving in neutral?

Tim..

Noise is a loud clicking coming from the central consol ? started hearing it a 50-60mph, and only when accerator pedal is touched-even gently. Now from

10mph-. cant hear it went in neutral., and not when pedal isnt touched. checked all facia rattles etc.

Are you *absolutely* sure its not the exhaust manifold gasket??

DMF faults usually rattle rather than click.

Tim..

It is more of a rattle..doed the TDDI have a DMF? any ideas
