Fuel Pipes

copper is fine for fuel pipes that are fixed down. Any commercial hydraulic place would sell you loose quantities of tube.

There's no legal problem with using non-ferrous pipes for fuel or brake systems on your car, but "microbore" might create a problem. If the outside diameter of your copper pipe is the same as the original, but the wall thickness is greater, then the bore will be less than the original, and may cause problems with flow rate at high demand.

But then if you drive like a normal person and not boy racer, there shouldn't be any problem.

What do you mean? If you can't get enough fuel down the pipe then running at wide open throttle (say overtaking) is going to be problematic...

Exactly.

Running at wide open throttle = boy racer. For normal overtaking the amount in the carb/metering unit/whatever is going to provide a small reservoir which will allow for normal person type overtaking but not sustained full throttle as per novaboy.

boy racer - problem. Normal person - no problem.

I would imagine anywhere that makes up brake pipes would be able to make a piece up if you can't get a replacement ex-stock from a factor Stuart

Err the amount of petrol you need will be similar in both cases anyway, WOT in a lower gear will need more petrol.

"Microbore" comes in 2 popular sizes 10mm and 8mm Unless you are running an alchol burning Caddy 500 motor I would have thought that these sizes of pipe would be more than adequate replacements for corroded originals . Its called "microbore" cos its samller than the 15mm and 22mm pipe used in older heating systems , not cos its the size of effing brake pipe .................... Steve the grease
