Glow Plugs - changing and finding out which one's dead

My bird's 106 diseasel's playing up. Seems like one or two glow plugs are dead by the way it's starting.


1) Can I test them with a multimeter? They don't seem to be noticably warmer than each other when you touch the tops of them (assuming the things that are situated where the spark plugs would be on the average petrol engine are glow plugs...)


2) Can I swap them with a spark plug socket?

The message from "Doki" contains these words:

Yes. Generally dead plugs are open circuit, live plugs are a few ohms.

I find it's easier to use a lamp from the battery - or if you're lazy just a jump-lead. If it sparks it's working.

Not normally, more likely to be an 11mm deep socket. Or is it 8mm? Anyhoo, it's not normal spark plug size.
