Mondeo Turbo Diseasel Immobiliser.

Bastard things.

97 Mk2 Mondeo TD, PATS system immobiliser.

Right, this is what's happening.

Ign. off - immobiliser light as normal, flashing slowly like it should.

Ign. on - Immob. light goes on for around 20 seconds then flashes once, no mad flashing to indicate PATS problem. Fuel pump making bzzzzzzt noise for around 5-10 seconds.

Turn key, bugger all.

Have tried jumping starter motor and it turns as it should, but no signs of engine starting.

Have also tried putting unchipped key in to see if that triggers PATS system going mad, but it seems to behave the same way as if the key is in.

Any clues?

The only way of bypassing the immob. that I know is to cut the top off the fuel pump housing and re-wire the start circuit to it'll run without using the PATS system. I have a Mondeo I can copy the wiring off, but don't know how the hell I'm meant to get the top off the pump without removing the pump first.

Anyone else had this problem?

Oh, and I've removed the battery for a few hours to try and discharge the system for a reset.

They should be able to sort it out for you.
