Granada Scorpio 1991 Auto - Gearbox Problem

Dec 24, 2003 2 Replies

My Granada Scorpio has done one 74,0000 miles so is not high mileage. The oil seals have been changed.

Two things if anyone could give me any advice as to any possible cause and solution.

1) After driving the car for a while it judders quite baddly in when in reverse gear. If you dont push the accelerator while in reverse and let it pull itself it doesn't judder.

2) Also, after driving at high speed and you slowdown to a stop when accelerating off again there is this delay where the gearbox seems to hesitate for 2 or 3 seconds, then it engages and off you go. It doesn't do everytime but quite often.

No 2 sounds much like a low transmission fluid level-does it do it when you swing round a corner and the revs increase then the drive suddenly clunks in and the car takes off . It is caused by the trans fluid swilling around the box and the drive gets taken up when the level settles .

put more fluid in it or get the box sorted it sounds like it's just worn out
