HID Headlight Kit

Hi all With the dark nights closing in I was looking to upgrade the lights a little, looking at hid kit websites some claim a 300% increase in performance! Are they worth the money or are better bulbs just as efective? Thanks Trev

they are a staggeringly better upgrade compared to 'better bulbs' buy a kit from china via ebay and spend a few hours fitting them nicely.

Thanks MrC Next thing is which type. Switched Relay powered from the battery or have they moved on now and just a simple headlight connector plug in will do Ta Trev

Do I remember there were moves afoot to actually measure / restrict the light output of headlamps, rather than simply limiting the input power?

For someone who actually suffers from HID or any 'over bright lamps, say on a roundabouts or being able to see the road myself as these things approach me on an unlit country lane I'd like to find there is (I rarely had an issue pre HID apart from the odd 'lad' running front fogs in good weather and that was more annoying then uncomfortable). Don't get me wrong, if it's permitted I'm happy for someone to fit football stadium flood lamps to their car / bike, as long as I don't ever get a face full of the things. ;-(

Cheers, T i m

[1] Same when you have a 4x4 tail light in yer face at night at the lights and they have their foot on the brake and the LED indicator flashing for /ages/. Maybe my night vision is better than most and hence why I suffer?

I think relayed is a much better job, hid lamps can fail to strike if the voltage gets a little low and the extra mileage and the switchgear can drag down the voltage easily.
