want some HID's in my MR2 turbo when i get it because.....well they look the bollocks lol na they give out so much light it's wicked! my mate just showed me his on his new company Omega a they really increase visability!
i know ron had a kit he brought fitted to his audi and maybe someone else too here and just wondered how much i can exspect to pay for such a kit?

Thought they also had to incorporate a self levelling system to pass construction and use regulations in the UK. Have you had the vehicle MOTed?
Without this, they're downright plain dangerous to other road users.
2 MOT's no fails, there is no MOT regualtation about HID's according to my examiner, there is something about light colour though.
The have to incorporate self leveling and headlamp washers for new build, this is due to the lights only being 35 watts and not being hot enough to melt ice from the lense, so I heard

The only way your car will fail an MOT is if the light is blinding other road users, I have never been flashed nor did it fail on beam too high on the MOT
Expect retrospective legislation about the actual light output of headlamps not fitted with self levelling. At the moment it is quoted in watts, so not suitable for HID units. However, if your car is reasonably new, its lighting should be E marked, and yours can't possibly be.

You've not noticed how much more HID equipped cars dazzle when you get their lights in your eyes - like when they hit a bump? Imagine just how much worse yours must be...
bollocks mate, i don't find and never have found HID lights dazzeling at all! i think it's a far more natural looking light that's bright and less blinding than normal high wattage bulbs which i've seen more and more round here!
i wondered as i have a mate who sells to people like like lotus and i can get them at wholesale price off him which is VERY cheap and plus there e-marked ect and will be fitted for nothing if i come to lend a hand :)
should be ok with pop up headlights as snow can't really block the light. oh and i'm guessing washers with anti-freeze could melt ice mate :)
Should also have high pressure washers to meet UK legal requirements. But I'm not sure if those requirements have to be met for an MOT.

They are E marked, also I am ordering some Ecodes/Projector type lights for mine as soon as I can afford it
Yes they do, the lights do not get hot like halogen's, so the lense is cool to the touch, also the washers keep the dirt from causing the light to refract all over the place
Only car I have thought OMG those lights are terrible is a brand new BMW X3, my lights are nothing like those, If people flashed me or complained that it was bright then I would remove them, they dont so they are staying on, I have also followed tons of motorway police cars and have never been pulled, they just look stock on my car, if it was a mk3 escort, then yes it would be stupid

The units in total cannot be genuinely E marked without self levelling. The lamp units themselves could be for use with standard halogens, and the bulbs for use in the correct self levelling units.

HAHA yeah when I got the car I always wondered what they were on other cars, infact I thought they were blanking plates for car that should have washers but were too low in the range to have em :)
Ahh, the old A4 headlamp washers.
My boss had a very early old shape A4, which he was proudly showing off to us the day he picked it up..... the headlamp washers had us hooked for ages. Bloody powerful they are, too. My car was parked behind his and got very wet during the demo.

Want a pair of those pop up washers to go with my pop up lamps. I was thinking of fitting the little nozzles off a Fiat Useless but those are a lot better. I've got the high pressure pump and big gonky black squirty things as standard. Do they work on water pressure to pop up or are they motor operated?

Well... I have been told they are water pressure operated, but from the video I would say machanical, as there is a bit of noise? but thinking about they return very slowly, so maybe they are pressure lol.

True, but HIDs are much more powerful. Otherwise no one would want them.
