Anyone have a CRV and can comment on its good / bad points?

had one for a week as a hire car.
this was a new one about 3 or 4 years ago
not at all comfortable on long drive.
did not handle well, poor on fuel.
new ones are supposed to be better, but take one out for a long test drive before you commit.
The diesel one was reviewed in some car mag last month, think it was what-car?
They preferred the Nissan 'thingy', can't remember it's name, they said the new Honda diesel in the CRV was very powerful and caused too much wheelspin!
I don't think much of soft-roaders though.
